Work and Travel Tax Refund

Our students participating in the Work and Travel program have almost all the rights granted to American citizens by the United States during their program period. In this case, certain amounts of taxes are deducted from the salaries of Work and Travel participants. These tax rates vary according to the state of the students located, their employers, their total hours and hourly wages.

Work and Travel participants encounter 4 different types of taxes to be deducted from their salaries. These are; State, Federal, Social Security and Contributions ACT. Work and Travel participants are only liable to pay Federal and State taxes above all.

Participants of the Work and Travel program are exempted from the rights granted by the US government upon their return to their home countries. In this case, our students will have the opportunity to get their taxes back that they had paid to the American government.

According to the latest law, should the tax that Work and Travel participants pay is equal to the 10% of their total income then they cannot reclaim this tax.

Work and Travel participants whose Federal tax is over 10% are eligible to reclaim the Federal tax, but all Work and Travel participants can reclaim the State tax.

Advice Study Abroad Work and Travel supports our students during the tax refund process. It provides services to our students in order to make the necessary application and follow-up.
